Look who's waiting on a baby or two...or three...or four

This time she is waiting for the arrival of her own babies. Nope, not delivering to others this time!

This stork is just across the street from where we live. She and her mate worked so hard a couple of weeks ago preparing their nest. She has been sitting for the last week. I honestly don't think she has moved at all. I guess she is keeping her egg(s) warm. She has a hard job on her hands today. It is drizzly and windy here and the high is 48 degrees at 1:37 pm. I don't think it is going to get any warmer today.

Their nest is partially permanent. The structure that the actual nest rests in is man made. The building you see in the picture is the old city hall here in Allmendshofen. Not sure what they use it for now.

Anyway, it is very interesting to see what the storks are up to from day to day. As of now, mama stork is doing her job at keeping her egg(s) warm and papa stork stays busy with bringing her food and protecting her. Can't wait to see the baby (or babies) when they arrive. It will be neat watching them learn to fly....
