Feeding Therapy - Happy Hungry Hippos

Izzy is still going to feeding therapy. Actually, we have bumped her frequency up to three times a week. Three times a week is very stressful for me as we have to drive about 50 minutes each way. It is a lot for both of us. However, this is just too important to not do and we LOVE our therapist, Charlene. Increased frequency will hopefully get results faster and help build Izzy's tolerance. My little sensory seeker has a really hard time to sit at the table for 30 minutes anywhere.

Charlene has made more progress with Izzy in about 5 weeks than our old therapist did in 4 months. Yay to that and thank goodness for Charlene!!!! Charlene seemed to have Izzy figured out when I initially called her and told her our story. She seems to have her pegged with pretty much everything. She knows when her sensory system is on overload, she knows when she is responding in a behavioral way, and knows just how far to go with her without breaking the trust that Izzy has built up for her. That is so important. Needless to say, I am starting to get pretty nervous about having to give Charlene up when we move.

A couple of weeks ago Charlene asked me if she could use some pics of Izzy on her website. So, Izzy had her "photo shoot" last week. Her website is www.happyhungryhippos.com. Please stay connected and I will let you know when she has her pics up. Please check out her site too. I can't say enough great things about her!

Here are some for now:

Getting ready to blow some bubbles. (Part of her warm up.)

Eating some vanilla pudding! Yumm-O!

Slim Jim time! Can't believe it, but she actually likes it.

Cheese stick!

I cannot begin to explain how happy it makes me to see my Little Bug eating this stuff. I still struggle to get her to eat some of this at home and to eat in quantity, but we'll get there! I am so proud of her...this is HUGE for her!

Yea!! I'm SO HAPPY you found Charlene!! She sounds just like Landon's feeding therapist - knows just how far to push him without going too far. Izzy looks so cute in the pics!! :-)
